Live 8

I give props to AOL simply because for the first time ever, I actually typed in "www.aol.com." I've never been to the website, and never a fan of their 'internet-for-idiots' application. However, I watched one streaming Coldplay song and that's the extent of Live 8 for me.

Here's 2 interesting takes on the concerts:

From TreeHugger, this blurb.

And a link in that same story, from the BBC, this story.

I couldn't agree more with this statement:

"Musicians today are merely Corporate Stooges, being flouted by Whiskey or Water company executives who don't know art but do know how to turn a profit on plastic disks."

I used to be shuffled into the basements of many local rock venues in Chicago and given a case of beer and told to play music and get people drunk. "Here dumb musician, here's your beer and pot, now go make me some money."

No thanks, I'm out.

I think that it is interesting that if the British "death" tax would have been paid on Linda McCartney's extemely protected inheritance ($150 mil), and the UK would have forked over the money gained from this revenue, more than twice as much money would have gone to the plight of the Africans.

The celebrities performing at this event with their cry of "Give Us your F----n' Money!" are the ultimate hippocrites.
