Ask and you shall receive

I've been saying the cable/satellite industry should do this for years. It could be what finally pushes us over the edge to get cable. Of course, the only problem is, the 5 stations I want will end up costing more than a bundled 180. I don't know this for fact, but I'm guessing some of the more idiotic channels like Sci-Fi, PAX, QVC, Gameshow Network, etc. somehow pay to lower our costs for ESPN, Discovery, TLC, etc. Anyone know how this works? It'll be interesting to see how this pans out...

Here's a fun one - if you could only pick 5 stations to buy and that's it, what would they be?

Discovery
PBS
ESPN

Sorry Di, I can't stand any Sci-Fi or Fantasy. Not a fan of Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or anything with a Frazzlebazzledorf, Lord Mothar, or Legion of anything in it.

I like planet stuff, historical, engineery shows (the hoover damn thing on discovery), or a good hockey game any day.

I have to admit, I loved Arrested Development on fox, even The Family Guy is good, and of course, Curb Your Enthusiasm too.

Sometimes I can't find a damn thing on any of'em, though and I go and read a book (like Harry Potter).

Casey,
All those years at Sportvision should have taught you that ESPN is just as idiotic as the Gameshow channel.

This is true, but they do a good job with the Sunday night baseball and football games. I could care less about Sportscenter, but love Hockey playoffs and the forementioned. That reminds though, I might need to add TNT, they do show a handful of good NASCAR races, and they also have those Bond marathons during the holidays which I love.

I think it's fitting Mr. EatChicago adds the Food Network. For F**ck's Sake! Who cares about watching food being made!

Actually we listened to the satellite radio at the cabin and really enjoyed it. Not sure if it was XM, but whatever Directv has. I loved some of the jazz stations, and even heard an old Al DiMeola jazz favorite of mine from his album Casino, which I don't think I've ever heard on any radio station. The only problem I found, was that it didn't always show the artist and album, which I really wanted to know, in case I liked stuff I haven't heard.

Go figure that Dina would like Nip/Tuck. One Kintonis doesn't even like the word blood, and the other can't get enough of it.

if you hit "display" on the remote it sould show the artist, and song.
actually, nip/tuck is less blood than you think. it's actually pretty, how would you say, sick, twisted, and sexy.

Doesn't anyone watch Comedy Central?

I don't subscribe to cable, but I'm constantly thinking about it thanks to Jon Stewart & Co.

For some reason, even though we don't get cable, here are the channels I recieve when I plug in the television and press the power button:

The networks (of course)
TBS
Spike TV
CSPAN
Cinemax
Weather Channel
Food Network

Very odd... but I'm not complaining.
