If you happen to catch me standing in line outside a Walmart, Target, iKEA, or any behemoth retail store, please kill me. If you see me sprinting through the aisles on Black Friday, or any Dark Grey Saturday in December, please throw white hot knives into my eyeballs. If you ever catch me setting up a tent the night before any of these days, please lock me inside and burn it to the ground.
I'm looking forward to shopping online this year. I love it when the UPS guy arrives, I sign for my package with a smile, and think of all of the traffic, long lines, cold air, and gas I saved. I think my goal for this Holiday season is to do it all online. We'll see.

I can just picture you running into, say, Target, to get some, say, wrapping paper, and five crazy people tackling you with white hot knives.
Be careful what you ask for.
Di :)
it's not "iKEA" -- it's "IKEA". didn't we already cover that?
I'm with you, Casey. As much as I like to shop, waiting in line for hours to knock everyone else down to get into the store and retrieve some gift item has zero appeal, and, in fact, seems just repulsive to me. But, I find shopping on line very unsatisfying, 'cause I like to touch, feel and asses the merchandise before I buy it, although sometimes online or catalogue does become a necessity.
it's actually ICRAP.
Mom, since when did you go Brit on us?
"Catalogue?"
"Catalogue" is not necessarily Brit. It is the actual spelling. Catalog is more of an abreviated version that has become popular in recent years.. Although it does show our age.
I'm afraid my age is showing, but I feel very sure if I get too far out in the spelling department, Zed will straighten me out, what with his word and spelling prowess.
seeing parents filing in like zombies for late-night shopping sprees with disheveled hair and bathrobes makes me dread holidays with children. i just don't want this time of year to spiral into that madness for things.
I remember shopping at Toys-R-US after midnight for those darn Cabbage Patch Kids dolls. They were being held for me so I didn't have to spend too much time there. It was macabre. The Christmas music was played at, what sounded like at the time, a half note off and about 10% too slow. The flickering flourescent lights were casting a cold yellow glow on all of the people schuffling around the store. I half way expected to hear "I want brains" mumbled from the next isle over.

our kids are serving soup for christmas.
I don't have to shop at all this Christmas. All my children want for Christmas are two very simple things...
1. For Santa to turn the whole house into an arcade.
2. A real 7-11 Slurpie machine for the kitchen.
No problem. Hope Santa comes through.
L.
go brookstone or hammacher-schlemmer. i swear they have arcade games and slurpee machines in their catalogs...
just kidding!
I have successfully completed my holiday shopping online, and it's the best feeling in the entire world. I detest lines, crowds, and rude pushy people...so the mall is simply not an option this time of year.
Good luck, Casey!
this is why i love secret santa!!! i only have two gifts to buy for adults, and the nieces and nephews get $$$ or bonds from the bank.
**take note- annoying toys with boinging and sqeeking noises will not be appreciated. if they are purchaced, they will be left at your home for my children to play with when we visit! books and gifts for the future are good!***
i hate the frantic running around trying to find "the right gift" for someone, only to find they hate it, or have one already. we made lists to santa when we were kids right?
just get in the spirit, and remember that christmas is not about gifts!! it's about family and for the practicing christians, baby jesus! i won't forget the scrabble game!!
good on ya, deenz. ditto!
OMG! you know what my word verification is?
ZEDHKT
what is that? zed has kicked tail?
zed is everywhere!
Amen!!! You can run but you can't hide,
Zed
Wahooo! Finished most of the big shopping on line. Love it love it love it!
I will do some little fun stuff and stocking stuffers, though, in the stores.
It is somehow connects to the Christmas Spirit (i.e., Pavlov's dogs?).
Good for you! I did a ton of it this year, but we had a fun snowy Saturday night out shopping and dinner and it was actually pretty fun and mellow. I think many others are following suit and shopping online - some of the stores were nearly empty!
